“Creative energy, flowing in waves –

The nourishing sun, the flash of lightning.

Breathe it in; feel its force.

It can create, nourish, or destroy.

How do you channel creative energy in your life?

Is it blocked or flowing?

How does it manifest in positive ways?

How does it manifest in negative ways?

What would life be like if you confidently

Unleashed the creativity within you?

Some people say they haven’t yet found themselves.

But the self is not something one finds;

It is something one creates.”

~ Thomas Szasz[1]

Using this poem as inspiration, here’s a 10-15 minute meditation practice to help you channel your creation energy.

  • Sit comfortably (chair or floor)
  • Take 3 deep inhales and exhales through your mouth. Feel your body beginning to relax with each breath cycle.
  • After the third breath cycle, allow your breath to rise and fall naturally – expanding the belly on the inhale, drawing the belly in on the exhale.
  • As you are ready, prepare to make the sound of creation – “Om”. Inhale deeply, and on the exhale – “Om.” Allow the vibration of the “mmmm” to radiate through your head and body. Savor it.
  • Then return to your breath.
  • Visualize a beautiful golden sun above the crown of your head. See it shining brightly, experience each aspect of it, ready to help bring its energy, light and creation into your life.
  • Slowly bring the Sun into your heart, allow it to expand. Notice what you feel as it expands into your whole being. Sit inside this energy. Feel the strength of the Sun, its ability to give light and help light a path forward, its power as the source of life and beginnings.
  • Draw your attention to the questions in the above poem.
  • Sit with one or two of the questions per meditation session. Let your mind freely flow to the answers.
  • Notice what feelings arise in your body and where you find comfort or discomfort.
  • As the answers come, release any judgement. As judgement arises, see it being combusted in the energies of the Sun and released. Return again to your meditation.
  • When you feel complete, thank the Sun for bringing its energy into your life.
  • Draw the energy of the Sun into your heart, knowing that the Sun’s powerful energies reside in you to help you create, ignite your visions, and propel you forward with strength and confidence into your destiny.
  • Return to your breath and slowly open your eyes.
  • Journal what insights and answers came to you.

You can revisit this meditation any time. If you do, notice how your answers may evolve, what new inspirations arise and how this practice may have sparked change in how you create.
